AMPlicons: A Practical Molecular Toolkit and Case Studies

Presented by the AMP Training & Education Committee

Wednesday, November 6, 2019 | 8:00am - 3:45pm

Location: Hilton Holiday Ballroom 1/2 Baltimore, MD
Online Registration is now closed. A limited number of on-site registrations will be available.

Join us for an interactive course designed to bring you up to speed in molecular pathology.  In the morning, after an exciting look at current molecular hot topics, we will review preanalytical variables that impact molecular testing, followed by an overview of current molecular technology including the application of novel technologies such as next generation sequencing and informatics.  In the afternoon, faculty members will present an immersive NGS workshop of case studies where participants will breakout into small groups to work through NGS cases in clinical genetics, solid tumors, hematopathology, and infectious diseases.

  • Identify common preanalytical variables that impact molecular testing.
  • Select the most appropriate clinical applications for PCR, non-PCR based amplification and array platforms.
  • Discuss the methodologic and clinical considerations of when to implement testing by NGS.
  • Compare and contrast methods of single nucleotide variant detection, copy number detection, and structural variant (fusions) detection by NGS and other related platforms (for CNVs).

American Board of Pathology Self-Assessment Credit

This course is valid for up to 4.50 of SA-CME Self-Assessment credits (SAMs). Learners should self-submit these credits to their boards.

Learners must pass the post-test with a score of 80% or higher and complete an evaluation form to receive a certificate of completion. Your chosen sessions must be attended in their entirety.  Partial credit of individual sessions is not available.

If you are seeking continuing education credit for a non-ABP specialty, it is your responsibility to contact your licensing/certification board to determine course eligibility for your licensing/certification requirement.

Instructions for how to claim credit will be emailed to participants after the course.

Plan now to stay after the course and attend the entire Association for Molecular Pathology 2019 Annual Meeting & Expo! The scientific sessions of the AMP Annual Meeting & Expo will take place from November 7-9, 2019 immediately following the AMP 2019 Molecular Pathology Outreach Course.

**Separate registration is required to attend the AMP Annual Meeting & Expo**
